Confuse me. I am smart. And I am a woman of a certain age. So it’s not like this is my first elevator ride. But when I am faced with that unique challenge of pushing the arrow button that says “hold the door open” versus the arrow button that says “close the door”, I get as lost as if I were wandering around Antarctica in a whiteout. Those arrows…they mean nothing to me. The only thing I can see is the slightly hurt, more-than-a-little-annoyed, offended look in the eyes of the person on whom I am closing those elevator doors as my brain fumbles about, thinking in a panic, “Which button??? Which button???”
To all on whom I have inadvertently closed elevator doors within an inch of their noses – and to all to whom I will undoubtedly do this in the future – my sincerest apologies.

WTF? You have nothing to be sorry about! I think I would have been confused in this elevator, but after a few hours…ok, maybe days, I would have worked it out and deliberately spent the next 3 weeks in it, trapping peoples noses & other extremities in the door…..FOR FUN… 🙂

On my more evil days, perhaps I will try to perfect my timing, sam!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but when there are other people in the elevator…there’s this pause and look in their eyes…like they’re saying “Go ahead you figure those buttons out…I don’t have a clue.”..I don’t think you’re alone in your confusion. 🙂

It’s kind of a collective intake of breath – who’s going to be the one to fumble? You’re making me think of my other elevator pet peeves, slp. 🙂

Perhaps learning the braille would be helpful for all of us. Then at least you look skilled and knowledgeable even if you hit the wrong one! “At least that person knows braille!” they will be thinking, “I surely don’t!”

I am always pushing the wrong button. I even press the wrong up/down call button and the wrong floor!
