It has been a stormy re-entry into the “real world”, which makes me question the value of one reality over another. MKL and I are toying with ideas about changing our reality. It may be time to start more focused planning. I don’t like feeling so clear in my plans and intentions when I am away and so swallowed up by daily life that I cannot move forward when I am here.

Quote of the day: “Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it’s yours.”   — Ayn Rand

Daily gratitudes:
Dogs carrying their own leashes
Helpful strangers
Recyclable milk jugs

Sunrise at Topsail is like a glimpse of heaven.

Quote of the day: “And when we’re no longer speaking, thinking or dreaming, we will dance with the ghosts of whales that have beached themselves long ago, long ago on the Barbary Coast. ” — Jesse Huestis

Daily gratitudes:
The rain and thunder and lightning tonight
Cobalt blue
Going off sugar
Toddlers in sparkly silver shoes
That I live in a place where a man can ride a horse down the street in the middle of the day with a dog in his backpack (unfortunately he got arrested, but that’s beside the point) (and I just found out the dog was a pug named Bufford, which adds a whole other dimension of awesome.)

This walkway, sandswept and wind covered, is my small path to one of my heart’s homes. How nice that my heart breathes wanderlust, which helps it find its home in so many lovely places.

Quote of the day: “Love is like the sea. It’s a moving thing, but still and all, it takes its shape from the shore it meets, and it’s different with every shore.”  —  Zora Neale Hurston

Daily gratitudes:
Pigeons with one white tail feather
Goosedown pillows
The gentleness of falling leaves
Prayers for healing and comfort

Sunlight is magic.  And so is the sea.

Quote of the day: “Painful as it may be, a significant emotional event can be the catalyst for choosing a direction that serves us and those around us – more effectively. Look for the learning.”  —  Louisa May Alcott

Daily gratitudes:
Rooftop gardens
People with a sense of humor

At Two Suns, we had a few rogue sea oats that served as impediments to our path to the beach.  There was much face-slapping when one of us would walk down the boardwalk and forget to hold them for whoever was following.  As sea oats are protected – and beautiful – we chose to let them have their way.

Quote of the day: “A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to
all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before the change.”  —  Earl Nightingale

Daily gratitudes:
Stuffed animals
Athletic beauty
The girls passing out beautiful cupcakes at 15th and Larimer as a random act of kindness – or a Random Act of Cupcakes
