The weather people say there will be snow tonight. We have been incredibly lucky with our weather so far this fall/winter, with only one real snowfall. But the short days (which will be growing longer if we survive December 21st) are wearing and taking a toll on those of us with S.A.D., even with the warmer weather. I still need a reminder of spring.

Quote of the day: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”  —  Martin Luther King, Jr.

Daily gratitudes:
That my Santa Hat makes people smile
My new cream swing coat
Christmas lights downtown
Having my three girls here tonight
That the lady at the convenience stand at the bus stop wouldn’t take my money for a Red Bull this morning, but sent me up to the top of the stairs where they were giving it away for free.

Sorrow builds on sorrow. I am posting this photo of Alcatraz today in honor of all law enforcement officers everywhere. A new tragedy has touched close to home.

Quote of the day: “I still believe in good and bad, in black and white, in right and wrong.  I believe the guilty should be punished.  I believe the law enforcement community has an obligation to make the world a better place, a safer placce.  And I believe that with dedication and hard work, everyone can make a difference.”  —  William Bernhardt

Daily gratitudes:
Animated short movies that make me laugh
Getting the Christmas tree in the stand (finally)
My Moo Cow gloves

It’s been a few years since I was here, but I loved Monterey. The sand was almost as soft and white as the Caribbean, even though the water was colder.  And the sea lions!  And the jellyfish at the aquarium!  And the man without a nose!  Good times…

Quote of the day: “I never considered a difference of opinion, in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”  —  Thomas Jefferson

Daily gratitudes:
Clouds that look like alien spaceships
Our gorgeous blue sky today
A new book idea

Quote of the day: “If you don’t get lost, there’s a chance  you may never be found.”  —  Author unknown

Daily gratitudes:
Pink skies at sunset
Burnout velvet
Keeping on keeping on
Trying to honor, and yet get past, my own sadness
Having a friend who is as big an idiot as I am
Hope for the future

Quote of the day: “Every man has his own destiny; the only imperative is to follow it, to accept it, no matter where it leads him.”  —  Henry Miller
