The weather people say there will be snow tonight. We have been incredibly lucky with our weather so far this fall/winter, with only one real snowfall. But the short days (which will be growing longer if we survive December 21st) are wearing and taking a toll on those of us with S.A.D., even with the warmer weather. I still need a reminder of spring.

Sorrow builds on sorrow. I am posting this photo of Alcatraz today in honor of all law enforcement officers everywhere. A new tragedy has touched close to home.

It’s been a few years since I was here, but I loved Monterey. The sand was almost as soft and white as the Caribbean, even though the water was colder. And the sea lions! And the jellyfish at the aquarium! And the man without a nose! Good times…
