Yesterday was a rough and emotional day. I was poked and squished and prodded and gave away money and went back to cozy house, but I’m not quite ready to write about that. Soon. Until then, we’ll spend a couple more days in Las Vegas.
Today’s gratitudes:
- An easy drive
- 13 inches of snow, which is good for the drought
- Leftover Carelli’s Tricolor Tortellini
- Petting two dogs yesterday

Today’s gratitudes:
- Clouds
- Getting everything done
- A moment of silence for the first anniversary of the King Soopers shooting
- Daffodils pushing up through the cold earth

Today’s gratitudes:
- Waking up with my husband
- Seeing the first Robin
- New friends
- Catnaps

Las Vegas was a very dog friendly town, which automatically raises its esteem in my and K’s eyes. I was unable to get a picture of the little Yorkie at FrankieAnnTiques, as it kept tip-tapping behind the counter. I was also unable to get a photo of the best Bichon-mix boy who sat and stood and sat and stayed alongside his Dad as they waited for his Mom to emerge from Plaza Antiques.
Today’s gratitudes:
- Blue skies
- Lemon ginger tea
- Flexibility
- My Amazon delivery guy who trudges through the snow to leave a package on my porch

The snow continues to fall up at the Retreat, sometimes trying on its identity as a blizzard. Anyone who know me knows that estimating the size of things is not my strong suit, but I’d say we have a solid eight inches here and it won’t stop until tonight. Boo that there is no one here to kiss me because I’m Irish, but that’s how some years go.
Daily Gratitudes:
- That I am warm in a warm house
- The amazing gumbo that I made this week (I may share the recipe – it was that good)
- Added moisture to our dry Wet Mountains to help prevent forest fires

A sad day today and a storm coming. Perhaps my mood fluctuates with the barometer. Perhaps I am the barometer. But a high point of today was speaking to a friend of my heart who turns 93 on the 27th. I was getting concerned that I hadn’t heard from him after my last letter, particularly with how cruel this year has been for so many. So that, and a gorgeous sunrise, are today’s gratitudes.

I am pleased to report that I’ve heard birds in our trees the last two mornings and that the daffodil blades have broken through the dirt.

I’ll be sharing photos from the weekend for a bit. It’s been a while since I’ve gone to the ruins of the cozy house, and my own absence has made me feel guilty of abandoning it, as silly as that sounds.
