Sometimes the body is simply unable to contain the splendor of the soul. Never forget — depression lies.

Quote of the day: “But poetry, romance, love, beauty? These are what we stay alive for!” — N.H. Kleinbaum

Daily gratitudes:
Being alive
Helping strangers
The full moon
That Kelsea and I think so much alike

Rest well, Robin Williams. You made me laugh in the darkest times, and for that I thank you. I wish you could have seen that depression lies.

It was cold today – yes, apparently I am talking about the weather – but my hot flashes make the cold tolerable, though my floor felt like ice this morning. The hot flash phase of a woman’s life would be a perfect time to visit an ice hotel, though I fear I would melt anything I touch. And I don’t think MKL is too keen on accompanying me.

Today’s photo is in honor of Dutch, whose story is to be found here:

Dutch loves pink. And even though he’s not mine, I love Dutch. He has survived (so far) where my Tug did not. Please send him prayers and healing juju.

Quote of the Day: “I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”  —  Audrey Hepburn

Daily gratitudes:
Loving cyber-communities
The writer’s group I attended this evening
Seeing MKL
Novels that make me talk back to them

I think we visited this little shop three times while we were on the island. It had a plethora of amazing and adorable things, and this is just one little corner that I wanted to share.

Quote of the day: “Love, whether newly born or aroused from a deathlike slumber, must always create sunshine, filling the heart so full of radiance, that it overflows upon the outward world.”  —  Nathaniel Hawthorne

Daily gratitudes:
The mysterious meteor I saw last night
Home safe
Today’s workout
The cold when you have hot flashes

The weather people say there will be snow tonight. We have been incredibly lucky with our weather so far this fall/winter, with only one real snowfall. But the short days (which will be growing longer if we survive December 21st) are wearing and taking a toll on those of us with S.A.D., even with the warmer weather. I still need a reminder of spring.

Quote of the day: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”  —  Martin Luther King, Jr.

Daily gratitudes:
That my Santa Hat makes people smile
My new cream swing coat
Christmas lights downtown
Having my three girls here tonight
That the lady at the convenience stand at the bus stop wouldn’t take my money for a Red Bull this morning, but sent me up to the top of the stairs where they were giving it away for free.

I think my spring flowers are truly encouraging spring…it’s been absolutely gorgeous here. So I’m going to keep them coming for just a while longer. (Though I owe Beth Ann a picture of my new elephant teapot!)

Quote of the day: “It’s spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”  —  Mark Twain

Daily gratitudes:
Union Station
Warm days and sunshine
Never leaving a room empty-handed (it keeps the house tidier)
Working out

Even though we’ve had amazing tank-top almost-summer weather, I am reminded of the road signs coming down I-70 from the mountains that say things like “Truckers! Don’t be fooled! You are not down yet!” I feel like we may still be in for some cold and etcetera. After all, March is typically Colorado’s snowiest month. So I am not done with posting floral inspirations for spring – not yet. The good news is that there is a little grass in my yard, and a few violet leaves, and shoots of the unknown plant are pushing though the soil. I hope to turn over the garden beds this week.
